Advancing Industrial Hygiene

The Academy of Industrial Hygiene is the organization that represents the interests of certified industrial hygienists who are members of the AIHA or a new member category - Academy Affiliate Members. The Academy is an organizational entity within the AIHA whose purpose is to foster, protect, and advance the recognized competencies of the industrial hygiene practitioner, the professional credentials of the industrial hygiene field, and to ultimately protect the health of workers and the community at large.
The mission of the leadership of the Academy is to sustain and advance the profession through activities ranging from the oversight of the education of members in professional ethics, to the support of continuing education for the experienced professional practitioner, to the accreditation of degree programs that ensure a continuous influx of well trained young talent into the profession.
The Academy was recently reorganized so that it could expand its role in emerging areas of interest to the profession. An example of this type issue is the study of the value of the profession. Members of the Academy are dedicated to personal excellence in their practice of industrial hygiene and are committed professionals. Academy members are found in the leadership positions in all of the industrial hygiene organizations.
