New Academy Affiliate Member Category Approved

AIHA members approved the creation of an Academy Affiliate classification of membership in the Academy of Industrial Hygiene.

The membership of the Academy was previously made up of all AIHA members in good standing who also had valid certification from the American Board of Industrial Hygiene. The new bylaws change allows all certified industrial hygienists to join the Academy as Academy Affiliate members. These individuals will also be recognized as Diplomates of the Academy. The dues for Academy Affiliate membership is $47.50 and the application for membership can be downloaded.
 
Academy Affiliate members will receive the following as benefits of their Academy membership:

• Recognition as Diplomates of the Academy
• The right to vote in Academy elections
• The right to serve on committees of the Academy
• Access to the online e-Diplomate and all other Academy communications
• Discount pricing for PCIH registration

Academy Affiliate members are not eligible to serve on the Academy Council. Academy Affiliate members do not receive any of the benefits of AIHA membership with the exception of the discounted PCIH registration.  A list of AIHA member benefits can be found online.

The Academy Council believes that making Academy membership available to all those holding valid certification from ABIH will better achieve the Academy mission to provide leadership in advancing the professional field of industrial hygiene.
