The Journal of Occupational and Environmental Hygiene Announces New Board of Directors
FAIRFAX, VA (January 4, 2008) — The Journal of Occupational and Environmental Hygiene (JOEH) announced changes in its board leadership today. These changes took effect January 1, 2008.
This is the fourth anniversary of the joint publication. The American Industrial Hygiene Association (AIHA) and the American Conference of Governmental Industrial Hygienists (ACGIH®) ceased publication of their respective journals—the AIHA Journal and the Applied Occupational and Environmental Hygiene—at the end of 2003 to pursue the joint publication beginning in January 2004.
The journal is administered by a Board of Directors made up of representatives from both associations:
Patrick N. Breysse, PhD, CIH, Johns Hopkins University, who as the ACGIH® member-at-large has served as vice president since January 2007, becomes president of the JOEH board. Breysse replaces Marshall Denhoff, CIH, ROH, Talisman Energy, Inc., who as the AIHA member-at-large served the board as president since January 2006.
John S. Volckens, PhD, Colorado State University, has been appointed by AIHA as a member-at-large and will join the board as vice president.
Manuel R. Gomez, DrPH, MS, CIH, Chemical Safety Board, is the new ACGIH board representative to the JOEH board. He replaces Mary T. Giguere, MSPH, CIH, North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services, as the ACGIH® board representative on the JOEH board. Giguere served since January 2005, including as president in 2006.
Other board members continuing service include:
Neil J. Zimmerman, PhD, PE, CIH, Purdue University, as AIHA board representative. A new AIHA board representative will be appointed to the JOEH board to replace Zimmerman in June at the 2008 American Industrial Hygiene Conference and Exposition in Minneapolis.
Steven H. Davis, CAE, executive director, AIHA, as treasurer.
A. Anthony Rizzuto, CAE, executive director, ACGIH®, as secretary.
Michael S. Morgan, ScD, CIH, University of Washington, as JOEH editor in chief, a nonvoting board position.
In cooperation with publisher Taylor & Francis, JOEH became one of the first journals to publish primarily online. Articles are published on the JOEH website as soon as they are finalized. This publication process enables AIHA and ACGIH® members and other JOEH readers to have access to cutting-edge, peer reviewed scientific information in the timeliest manner possible.
Please contact Gina Veazey, AIHA’s director of communications, at (703) 846-0734 or gveazey@aiha.org with questions regarding the JOEH. For more information, please visit http://www.aiha.org/joeh.htm.
