AIHA Presents CIH Exam Preparation TeleWeb

Presenters share secrets for successful CIH exam preparation

FAIRFAX, VA (February 6, 2008) — The American Industrial Hygiene Association (AIHA) will host “Secrets for Success: Preparing for the CIH Exam,” a TeleWeb Virtual Seminar on February 13, 2008, from 2–4:30 p.m. ET.

This course is intended for all audiences ranging from college students and early career professionals, current professionals working to obtain the certified industrial hygiene (CIH) designation, and managers and supervisors who are certified but want to learn more about what is needed to develop their staff by having them pursue the CIH.

Featured speakers include Lynn C. O’Donnell, CIH, executive director, American Board of Industrial Hygiene (ABIH); Dean R. Lillquist, PhD, MSPH, CIH, director of the Salt Lake Technical Center, Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA); Carter B. Ficklen III, CIH, program manager, Mainthia Technologies, Inc.; Bob Costello, CIH, corporate EHS team, W.L. Gore & Associates; and Kimberly Castillon, CIH, compliance officer, OSHA.

Presentations will include the following:

  • Pequirements to sit for the CIH exam
  • Professional development through certification

CIH preparation and strategies

  • The road trip to passing the first time 
  • Industrial hygiene mentoring programs
  • The third time is the charm

On completion of the course, attendees will:

  • Understand the history of the CIH exam
  • Review candidate eligibility and testing procedures 
  • Perform a self-assessment
  • Gather study materials, form a game plan, and concentrate on methods of focusing on areas of weaknesses
  • Gain better focus prior to sitting for the exam
  • Mentor peers preparing for the CIH exam
