What Is AIHA?

Founded in 1939, the American Industrial Hygiene Association (AIHA) is the premier association of occupational and environmental health and safety professionals. A non-profit organization, AIHA ‘s 11,600 members play a crucial role on the front line of worker health and safety every day.

AIHA is devoted to achieving and maintaining the highest professional standards for its members. The association works in conjunction with the American Board of Industrial Hygiene to promote certification of industrial hygienists. Certified Industrial Hygienists (CIHs) are recognized for their expertise after fulfilling a demanding qualification process. AIHA administers comprehensive education programs that keep occupational and environmental health and safety professionals current in the field of hygiene.

AIHA also operates several well-recognized laboratory accreditation programs based on the highest international standards. These programs help ensure the quality of the data used in making critical worker protection decisions.
