Elemental Industrial Hygiene, EIH part 1

5.0 Fundamental CM points, 10.0 CEUs, and 10.0 COCs

Prerequisites: None. This is a basic, though comprehensive, introductory self-directed course on industrial hygiene.

Learning Outcomes: At the conclusion of the course students will be able to

  • Enhance knowledge in certain fundamental topic areas
  • Complete basic, introductory modules for maximum knowledge
  • Identify topics for review for certification


Course Specifics: This course is designed for EH&S professionals who wish to enhance their knowledge of the occupational health sciences (known traditionally as industrial hygiene). More than 2,000 professionals have taken this regularly-updated course during the past 10 years. You can use this outstanding study program for an in-depth review, to prepare for a certification exam, or simply to enhance your career opportunities. The study program is divided into 11 parts: 10 lessons and a final exam.

  • Module I—History; Objectives; Math and Science Review
  • Module II—Physiology/Anatomy; Toxicology; Epidemiological Surveillance
  • Module III—Chemistry Overview; Gases; Vapors; Solvents and Aerosols; Overview of Occupational Medicine
  • Module IV—Laws and Regulations; Standards; Associations
  • Module V—Air Sampling; Air-Sampling Instruments; Analytical Techniques
  • Module VI—General Methods of Control; Local Exhaust Ventilation of Industrial Occupancies; General Ventilation of Industrial Occupancies
  • Module VII—Respiratory Control; Personal Protective Equipment; Protective Clothing
  • Module VIII—Indoor Air Quality; Ventilation of Nonindustrial Occupancies; Air Pollution; Ergonomics and Human Factors
  • Module IX—Ionizing Radiation and Nonionizing Radiation; OH Management/Risk Communication; Safety and Other EH&S Concerns; Emergency Planning

 
Time to Complete: This course will take 100 hours to complete. You will have up to 24 months from your enrollment date to complete it.
