Course Description
This introductory four-day course provides exposure to the broad field of industrial hygiene through sampling and workshop sessions, hands-on lab experiences with up-to-date equipment, demo sessions, and problem-solving exercises. It is designed for OEHS professionals new to industrial hygiene or who have newly acquired IH responsibilities.
Learning Outcomes
- Identify industrial hygiene principles and practices
- Describe basic concepts of health hazard recognition, evaluation, and control methods
- Select appropriate air sampling method for airborne contaminants
- Calculate the Time Weighted Average (TWA) from multiple samples
- Compare sample results to the appropriate Occupational Exposure Limits (OELs)

Daily attendance and participation in assigned activities and projects is required.

Transfers, Substitutions, and Cancellations
All transfers, cancellations, and/or substitutions must be received in writing by the Continuing Education Department. Transfers can be made at any time to any course within the same calendar year. Substitutions may be made at any time. Cancellations made 15 business days prior to the course will be given a full refund. Cancellations made within 15 days of the course will be charged a $75 processing fee. No refunds will be given if notice of cancellation is not received prior to the start of the course, including no-shows.
