Emergency Response Planning Committee
The mission of the committee is:
To develop guidelines for responding to potential releases of airborne substances for use in community emergency planning.
AIHA ERPG Committee Requesting Public Comments
AIHA ERPG Committee is requesting public comments on proposed Emergency Response Planning Guidelines for Phosphoric Acid. The document and proposed ERPG values are:
Written comments may be submitted to Mili Mavely, AIHA Program Manager for Standards (703) 846-0794 (p), or mmavely@aiha.org. All responses should be identified with the ERPG document and received by March 20, 2009.
Goals and Objectives
Goal: Publish brief summaries and estimates of tolerable-effect thresholds, not intended as exposure recommendations, to assist in the planning for accidental, episodic chemical releases.
Objective: Review the health and safety data on the chemicals of greatest concern in the United States.
Strategies:
- Assign evaluators to review and revise toxicology summaries on chemicals of concern.
- Meet as a full committee four times a year to review summary documents and to develop estimates of tolerable exposure levels.
- Prepare emergency response guidelines for publication and distribution by the AIHA national office.
- Prepare and maintain documentation supporting the guidelines
