Engineering Committee Awards
Every year, members of the Engineering Committee present three awards that recognize excellence in the development, verification, and/or application of engineering principles to the mitigation of stressors in the occupational environment:
Best Engineering Paper
The awardees are selected by a committee of peers from papers published in the The Journal of Occupational and Environmental Hygiene (previously the American Industrial Hygiene Association Journal and the Applied Occupational and Environmental Health Journal) during the calendar year (January–December) preceding the conference.
In 2004, this award was presented to Francisco José Marzal Martínez, Enrique González Ferradas, and Agustín Miñana Aznar for “Visualization of Airflows in Push-Pull ventilation Systems Applied to Surface treatment Tanks.”
Best Engineering Poster
The awardees are selected by a committee of peers from the technical posters presented in the AIH Conference and expo.
In 2004 this award was presented to Dean Lillquist and Bryon Crain for “Ability of Minor Increases in Indoor Shooting Range Air Velocities to Reduce Zone of Small-Arms shooters.”
Best Graduate Poster
This award recognizes the work of graduate students in the field of engineering. The awardees are selected by members of the committee among the posters presented in the student section.
In 2004 the award was presented to Byung Gyu Kim, Gurumthy Ramachadran, and Andrew Streidel for “Performance of Electrostatic and Glass Fibers Filters in Hospital HVAC Systems.”
This year the members of the Engineering Committee will present these awards to the authors of papers and posters that have contributed to the excellence in the development, verification, and/or application of engineering principles to the mitigation of stressors in the occupational environment.
