PAST MEETINGS
2011 Bull Moose Award
Named for
Bullwinkle, nature’s first industrial hygienist, who patrolled the
woods with his faithful technician, Rocky, in search of recognizable
hazards, keeping forest and glen safe for all, and waging a constant
battle for prevention against Boris and Natasha, the twin Compliance
Officers. This award, our most prestigious, goes to the
Metro-NY Section member who best exemplifies the characteristics of
the ideal industrial hygienist.
This year’s recipient has extraordinary powers of
recognition. His 20/20 hindsight makes him able to spot a hazard
after he steps into it. He has keen powers of evaluation; his highly
refined sense of smell can tell when he’s present in atmospheres
that are IDLH (immediately dangerous to life and horns). We
all can’t be perfect, and our recipient is no exception. The
truth is, He’s a bit out of control: he has a tendency to leap
before looking. Despite his faults, we think there is no one more
deserving of this award.
A great social meeting
took place on 8.6.11 in the Central Park of NYC. AIHA Metro NY
welcomed President Michael Byrnes from LiRo Engineers, Inc.
and President Elect Damon Baumann from
Thornton Tomasetti. Cool CEScenter.com (Creative
Environment Solutions Corp.) hats and coolers were given out to all
participants at the Social.
