PRESIDENT 2012-2013

Damon C. Baumann is currently an Associate  for Thornton Tomasetti, an international multidisciplinary engineering firm with 600 employees in 26 offices with projects in more than 50 countries.  With a Bachelor of Science Degree in Environmental Health Science he started his career in environmental consulting dealing specifically with worker exposure and outdoor air monitoring at and around construction sites along the east coast.  Having developed an interest in worker safety Mr. Baumann then continued his career dealing more with worker exposure monitoring as well as site safety compliance within the construction industry.  In 2003 he  joined Thornton in which Mr. Baumann currently  focuses on investigations involving construction and design defects, poor building system component performance, and the delineation of damages caused by the above as well as those caused by acts of nature such as hurricanes. As a Senior Project Director Mr. Baumann is responsible for the coordination and supervision of field investigations, analysis of collected data, development of remedial plans/details, construction administration and everything in between!

PRESIDENT 2009-2010

Sophie Naftalovich CIH, CSP, CHMM is the EHS manager at Perrigo NY and is a former director of Hazardous Substances at the Israeli EPA.  Sophie has a Bachelors degree in Biology and a Master degree in Microbiology (immunology) from The Hebrew University of Jerusalem, Israel.  Looking to spend a year in the US with her family turned to be a 10 year exciting journey, when she acquired her professional certifications in the field of the Industrial Hygiene.  Sophie is practicing EHS in the manufacturing facility of Perrigo (former Clay-Park Labs), the largest Topical Over-The-Counter (OTC) pharmaceutical company in the US.  Sophie is a relatively new member of the AIHA Metro NY and is proud to work together with experienced member of the chapter who contribute their leadership in order to sustain a professional activity of the chapter.  Sophie has 2 boys in college and lives in Bergen County, NJ.

PRESIDENT 2008 - 2009

Mark Drozdov, CCT, FSM, SSM is a VP and Technical Director of Creative Environment Solutions (CES) Corp. – a firm with a strong reputation of successful performance of a myriad of environmental engineering, remediation and safety projects for private and public clients. For over 25 years, Mark has been on the industry's leading edge. He's certified in Code Compliance by DOS, Licensed in Site Safety Management by DOB and FDNY, Certified Asbestos Investigator/Lead Inspector, Designer, Monitor, Risk Assessor, Management Planner. Mark is an OSHA-authorized Instructor, EPA, OSHA, DOB, DOH, FDNY- approved Trainer and is also EPA-certified in ENERGY STAR. He is a Radiation Safety Officer (RSO) and worked with EBASCO and U.S. Army Corps of Engineers to provide strategic compliance consulting for Environmental, Health and Safety (EH&S) Program development and management.

Mark Drozdov is a member of Local Emergency Planning Committee - LEPC (http://health.westchesterGOV.com/LEPC) and Industrial Hygiene & Education Consultant with Stony Brook University’s Preventive Medicine Occupational & Environmental Health Center. He's served as Polytechnic University’s Graduate Center Director for Development of Educational Initiatives & Curricula. Mark also lectures at CUNY's City & Hunter College and The Cooper Union. Mark's hard work has earned him many commendations and prestigious awards, including for his work at “Ground Zero”, the new Yankee Stadium Metro North Station, and the AIHA NY's "Bull Moose of the Year" award.  At the request of National AIHA, he was interviewed by the Polish National Television for the 9/11 anniversary and recently presented at
the Metropolitan Museum of Art at a joint meeting of NY Safety Executives +ASSE+AIHA on the new EPA Lead Regulations & jeopAIRdy!™ CES-developed training contest.

As President of the American Industrial Hygiene Association (AIHA) Metro New York Chapter, Mark headed the signing of OSHA-Alliance Agreement, lead the 28th Annual North-East Regional Industrial Hygiene Conference, organized a record number of technical meetings and was instrumental in the EH&S College Programs Scholarships Awards.
