How many times a day are employees throughout your company utilizing ear plugs or ear muffs? 10’s, 100’s, 1,000’s, 10,000’s, 100,000’s! The facts say the number is substantial. How do you know the hearing protection provided to your employees is adequate in protecting its user?  A sizable amount of work has shown that the Noise Reduction Rating (NRR) posted on hearing protection is very rarely, what its user really achieves during real world scenarios. Hearing protection is ubiquitous, in most industries and is the most common noise control in use. These factors create the need for Safety and Health Professionals to implement powerful tools to assess the effectiveness of hearing protection utilization training, selection of the correct hearing protection for different noise exposures, verification of correct fit for hearing protection, as well as answer many other questions about hearing protection. A good understanding of the use of Hearing Protection Device (HPD) Field Attenuation Estimation Systems (FAES) also known as Ear Plug Fit Testing can help prepare Safety and Health Professionals to provide the best hearing conservation possible.

The Alabama Local American Industrial Hygiene Association (AIHA) Section is hosting an event focused on Hearing Protection Device (HPD) Field Attenuation Estimation Systems (FAES) also known as Earplug Fit Testing.
