Director of Industrial Hygiene and Ergonomics

A  Fortune 250 global manufacturer with over 100 locations world-wide, supplying diversified products and services through multiple businesses and cultures requires a strategic, innovative, experienced global Industrial Health and Ergonomics Director to identify IH strategy, design and recommend implementation practices, assess and manage risk and drive ergonomics strategy and protocols.

Essential Experiences and Skills include: 

  • Ability to assess, develop and align the capabilities of the global team to leverage programs regionally and globally,
  • Obtain the business's commitment to strategic investment resulting in the creation and promotion of programs and processes in anticipation of business growth, 
  • Work with the Corporate Medical Director to provide guidance and professional development to the IH professionals,
  • Development of communication and training programs that influence and lead the businesses in attaining highest standards for IH values and metrics.

Experience:

 

·         10 years with a minimum of 3 years of strategic leadership of IH & Ergonomics for a global company

·         Working knowledge of Six Sigma tools

·         Chemical industry experience is advantageous

Education:

·         BS (safety engineering, industrial hygiene, occupational health or equivalent) required

·         Advanced degree preferred

·         CIH certification preferred, (CSP)

·         Engaged in the businesses.

Corporate Safety and Health Learning Leader

(Flexible location)

 

A Fortune 250 Global Manufacturer with over 100 locations world-wide supplying diversified products and services through multiple businesses and cultures requires a strategic, innovative and experienced Global Health & Safety professional, reporting to the Vice President.

As Safety and Health Global Learning Leader, you’ll support the continuing development and implementation of a new global Safety & Health spanning culture, process and talent. You will work closely with the Communications and Learning Development teams in creating new learning strategies and tools, including all associated complex and technical Safety & Health procedures, guidance documents, training materials, web-enabled and software tools, and other communications. You’ll optimize all available avenues for learning including company web sites, intranet portal site, and peer meetings and global networks.

Position Responsibilities:

As key leader in driving the change process for Safety & Heath (S&H) strategy this individual will:

·         Use learning programs and communication as strategic tools to drive the culture, process and talent.

·         Develop and implement key learning initiatives to drive the strategy.

·         Improve capability to identify and share internal best practices, root causes and corrective actions in the culture, process and talent areas.

·         Provide technical guidance in developing training materials for all S&H procedures and topics, designed for use by site leaders, S&H leaders, functional area leaders and employees.

·         Track and share emerging S&H technical issues globally and develop needed safety alerts, new or modified S&H technical procedures.

·         Manage technical and compliance-related communications with learning various learning suppliers along with the company’s learning and development organization.

·         Maintain and update S&H information on the company-wide intranet safety website, providing specific guidance for employees, site and business leaders, functional leaders and S&H leaders.

·         Develop and coordinate agendas for all global learning sessions and multiple training avenues, including 12-15 global S&H workshops, special technical topics and leadership personal coaching sessions.

Safety & Health Leader                                                                      

·         Monitor and track injury and illness rates and trends, and ergonomic-related injury and illnesses trends, to develop new targeted data analysis procedures, programs and leadership training.

·         Develop new or revise existing targeted program for supervisor development and training focused on their role in leading and driving safety and wellness overall. Leverage existing Safety Leadership Training, employee problem-solving and engagement tools and other supervisor training materials.

·         Coordinate all external communications of S&H programs and progress, including customer survey responses, external S&H reports and S&H regulatory template responses.

·         Estimated travel: 20-25%

Key Competencies & Success Factors:

·         Excellent project management skills are required.

·         Proven ability to communicate complex technical subjects in clear, meaningful and straightforward terms to employees, the S&H community and business leadership.

·         Ability to work effectively in teams and independently, with minimal supervision.

·         Ability to meet challenging/changing deadlines and to prioritize and handle multiple tasks in a demanding work environment.

Qualifications:

·         Bachelor’s degree in engineering or related science is required with specific experience in training & development; preferably in computer-based, web systems learning environments.

·         Minimum of 5 to 7 years experience in a safety-related field; with direct experience in the strategic development of Safety & Health training requirements globally strongly preferred.

·         Advanced safety certification and six sigma training is a plus.

·         Proficient with Microsoft Word; Desktop publishing program and PowerPoint experience preferred.
