Section History

The Delaware Section celebrated its 10th anniversary as a local section in January 2007.  The section was formed from the former Delaware Valley Section (now the Philadelphia Section) in January 1997.  The Delaware section was established to provide a local forum for industrial hygienists and others based in Delaware and working in related disciplines such as occupational medicine/nursing, IH technology, environment and safety.

During the last 11 years, 138 different people have belonged to the section for at least one year, each member belonging for an average of three years.  Membership by year has averaged 47.  There was a high of 59 members during our first year and a low of 34 members in 2004.

The Delaware Section of the AIHA was featured in AIHA's monthly publication, The Synergist, in May 2007.  Click here to view the article.
