Health & Safety Specialist

Overland Park based Ash Grove Cement Company, privately held and 5th largest cement company in US, is seeking an experienced Health and Safety Specialist. 

 With a minimum of 5 years experience in health and safety, successful candidate must have a BS in Industrial Hygiene, Safety Management or related field.  Individual will serve multiple locations and will have some environmental responsibilities.  Working knowledge of MSHA, OSHA, DOT, and Coast Guard health and safety regulations preferred. Candidate must be proficient with Microsoft Office products. 

 Up to 50% travel required.

Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH )-Project Manager

 OCCU-TEC, Inc., a Kansas City based occupational, health & safety consulting firm founded in 1983 is seeking interest for a Project Manager position in our Kansas City office.  Candidates must be in the Kansas City Metro area, or willing to relocate.   Relocation expenses not currently offered.

Position Summary

Conducts health & safety program review in industrial settings or governmental organizations to recognize, eliminate, and control occupational health hazards and diseases:  Collects samples of dust, gases, vapors, and other potentially toxic materials for analysis.  Investigates adequacy of ventilation, exhaust equipment, lighting, noise and other conditions which may affect employee health, comfort, or efficiency, and recommends measures to ensure maximum employee protection.  

Prepares technical reports including observations, analysis of contaminants, and recommendations for control and correction of hazards.

 Responsibilities include:

  • ·     Provide and manage services in the areas of industrial hygiene, environmental investigations, and occupational, chemical, noise, and biological safety;

  • ·     Assist with Asbestos and Lead Management project management;

  • ·     Perform Indoor Environmental Quality (IEQ) assessments;

  • ·     Serve as Instructor for learning solutions and training classes (both classroom, and instructor led online courses);

  • ·     Continue to grow our successful industrial hygiene and safety practice;

  • ·     Help our existing clients solve their occupational health and safety problems;

  • ·     Expand the Corporation's reputation and client base.

Requirements:

  • ·     Bachelor of Science (BS) degree in industrial hygiene or other related discipline;

  • ·     5 to 9 years experience in performing industrial hygiene exposure monitoring, bio-aerosols and indoor air quality investigations;

  • ·     Must be a current Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH), or have ability to obtain certification within 6 months;

  • ·     Experience with a broad range of IH/H&S consulting (versus a narrowly focused career);

  • ·     Posses an entrepreneurial spirit and willing to market, promote, and grow the company are preferred.
