The Upper Midwest Local Section is
comprised of over 225 industrial hygienists who provide professional services
state-wide and nationally. Membership in the Section includes all of Minnesota
plus North Dakota and South Dakota. The Upper Midwest Local Section is part of
the national American Industrial Hygiene Association (AIHA) founded in 1939.
With more than 10,000 members, AIHA is the largest international association
servicing the needs of occupational and environmental scientists and engineers.

In Minnesota, as many as 8,500 babies are
born every year with brain damage caused by prenatal alcohol exposure. Annually,
the total cost for FASD in Minnesota is estimated at $131 million. Did you know
FASD is 100% preventable if women do not drink alcohol during pregnancy? If you
are a professional or a parent with an interest in finding out more about
preventing FASD and supporting those who are affected, then this presentation is
for you.
Kendra Nelson, MPH, is a graduate of the Minnesota School of Public Health, and
the Community Grants Coordinator for the Minnesota Organization on Fetal Alcohol
Syndrome.
