Notes:
In early 1998 Tenneco Automotive, in partnership with Behavioral Sciences Technology - BST - launched a Global Behavioral Safety Initiative, using Internal Consultants. They successfully implemented the Process simultaneously in 72 plants in 19 countries around the world. Enthusiasm was high during the first year as the Internal Consultants and plant teams were very engaged in identifying critical behaviors, training observers and collecting the initial observation data. Year One results were impressive with implementation targets achieved and with injury rate reductions in excess of 34% in the first 12 months.
Year two has created new challenges and I will talk about how we have addressed these challenges as we strive towards long-term sustainability of the Process and continued improvements in preventing injuries and illnesses.
But first let me tell you a little about Tenneco Automotive, and how we began this Initiative.
