Notes:
Prior to the launch of the behavior-based safety process, communication meetings took place with union members, employees and supervisors to discuss what is a behavior-based safety process and what actions will be forthcoming. This gave an opportunity for their comments and concerns to be addressed.
While discussing various behavior-based safety activities at other Department of Energy Laboratories, I discovered that it would be best to secure both the intellectual property and training under one purchase order.
Various vendors were contacted by the SLAC Purchasing Department. A purchase order was opened for behavior-based safety intellectual property and training. During the spring of 1999, a purchase order was awarded.
On July 23, 1999, the SLAC behavior-based safety process was initiated.
