Notes:
On a quarterly basis or as needed, the Helm committee will meet to review any comments or concerns that might be brought forward to them or the behavior-based safety coordinator.
The purpose of a Helm committee is to provide guidance to each of the steering committees and department heads from the work groups that are involved in the behavior-based safety process. The guidance that is provided can address items such as: charge-back numbers for training and committee work, communication on participation activities, advance notice on training times and locations, and when the next recognition Bar-B-Q lunch will be held.
Individuals who participate on this committee are: Steering Committee Chairpersons, Department Heads, Union Stewards, Line Supervisors, Site Behavior-based Coordinator and Associate Laboratory Directors that sponsor the behavior-based safety process.
It is beneficial to initiate a Helm committee after a third department or work group is brought into the process.
