The first aim of this work was therefore to carry out laboratory experiments to investigate the effect of welding parameters on the chemical composition of welding fume. The objective was to use the results obtained to define test conditions for use when generating future MSDS data, in order to ensure that it is as representative as possible of the composition of welding fume produced under typical operating conditions.
The aim of the second phase of the work was to produce welding fume under these test conditions, determine its chemical composition, and compare the resulting data with that currently provided on MSDSs, with the objective of assessing its reliability.
