Notes:
The 3rd phase of the work involved carrying out field sampling exercises to collect and analyse personal exposure samples in real life situations, where welders can be exposed to particulate from various other processes, such as grinding. The objective was to use the results to assess whether or not dust from such welding-related operations can cause the chemical composition of airborne particles to which a welder is exposed to vary significantly from chemical composition data generated in the laboratory.
Finally, it was hoped that the results of the work would provide the data necessary for developing a European and International Standard on requirements and test methods for fume analysis data sheets.
