This slide illustrates the fact that voltage is one of the most important factors influencing welding fume composition. Although it ostensibly shows the affect of different wire diameters for MAG welding, the relationship between fume composition and voltage is unmistakable. Chromium and manganese follow voltage, whilst nickel and silicon have an inverse relationship to voltage.
