Dust from welding related operations, e.g. grinding, has the potential to cause the chemical composition of airborne particles to which a welder is exposed to vary significantly from fume composition data on MSDSs.
The third and final phase of the project therefore involved carrying out field tests in a number of stainless steel welding shops having different levels of grinding activity, to assess the magnitude of this effect and determine its significance for the application of the EH 54 procedure.
