Money Saving Tips

Ways to Save on Travel

• Consider flying into Buffalo instead of Toronto to save as much as 50% on airfare. Savvy travelers fly on a U.S. discount airline into Buffalo and then take a shuttle or rent a car for the approximate two to three-hour drive into downtown Toronto. Split the cost of a rental car with a colleague and save even more.

  • Book airfare early and compare rates on sites like www.kayak.com
  •  Stay in the AIHce hotel block. AIHce staff negotiated multiple times to obtain the lowest rates in downtown Toronto. AIHce hotels range from $139 USD to $194 USD per night (based on USD to CAD exchange rate as of 3/10/09). The following hotels are still available at these great rates.

Delta Chelsea Hotel $190 CAD = $148 U.S.
The Fairmont Royal York $229 CAD = $178 U.S.
Sheraton Centre Toronto $225 CAD = $175 U.S.
The Westin Harbour Castle $225 CAD = $175 U.S.

  •  Participate in the Shared Room Referral Program and cut hotel costs by 50%
  •  Ensure your passport is up to date to avoid rush processing fees
  •  When you arrive into Toronto, take the Airport Express Shuttle to your hotel instead of a taxi and save up to $30 one-way
