This 4.5-day course is an intensive, high-level review of a wide range of industrial hygiene topics for individuals preparing to take the American Board of Industrial Hygiene (ABIH) Certified Industrial Hygienist examination (CIH), those who have taken the exam but need a refresher, or others who desire a comprehensive review of topics relevant to the practice of industrial hygiene.

Course Directors 

Edward T. Zellers, PhD, is the director and professor in the Industrial Hygiene program with the Department of Environmental Health Sciences at the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor. Dr. Zellers has many years of experience in industrial hygiene practice, research and teaching.

Bert Schiller, CIH, PE, ROH, is currently an independent consultant. Schiller has more than 21 years of extensive teaching, consulting and practical experience in industry, government, academia and private interest groups. In 1990, he helped organize the Comprehensive Industrial Hygiene Review course, now offered twice a year at the University of Michigan.

Accommodations & Transportation Information

AIHA has negotiated a discounted rate of $112 plus tax per night at the Kensington Court Hotel. Please reserve your room as soon as possible as a limited number of rooms are blocked. The room block expires 30 days before the course. After this date, rooms will be subject to the prevailing rate and availability. Please request the CIHR block when making room reservations to receive the negotiated group rate.

Attendees are responsible for making their own travel arrangements. If you would like assistance in making your arrangements, contact Maupin Travel at  +1 800-359-4738. While unlikely, AIHA reserves the right to cancel a course 30 days prior to the start of the course.  In the event of cancellation, you will be issued a full refund.

Transfers, Substitutions and Cancellations

All transfers, cancellations and/or substitutions must be received in writing.

  • Transfers to an alternate date of the course offering can be made at any time within the same calendar year.
  • Transfers made to the following year may incur an additional $50 administrative fee.
  • Substitutions may be made at anytime.
  • Cancellations received 3 weeks prior to the start of the course will be given a refund, minus a $100 cancellation fee. Any cancellation received within 3 weeks of the start of the course will not receive a refund.
  • If you fail to attend, you will be liable for the entire course registration fee.

Certification Information

This course has been awarded certification maintenance points by the American Board of Industrial Hygiene (ABIH).  AIHA is authorized by the Board of Certified Safety Professionals (BCSP) to issue continuance of certification (COC) points in conjunction with the CSP certification and has been approved as an authorized provider by the International Association for Continuing Education and Training (IACET).
