The mission of the committee is to provide a forum for collecting, evaluating, discussing, and disseminating information regarding occupational health and safety hazards and hazard controls that are unique or relevant to the construction industry.
Goals and Objectives
Goal: Assemble, evaluate, and disseminate to occupational and environmental health professionals information relevant to health and safety in the construction environment.
Objective #1: Discuss and act upon safety and health issues in the construction environment.
Strategies:
- Designate specific members to track and report on identified issues.
- Respond to AIHA Board requests to address specific issues.
- Meet annually at the AIHce.
- Provide an information resource for AIHA members.
- Promote the development and dissemination of construction specific manuals, handbooks, videos, and other publications.
Objective #2: Provide education and training on construction-related occupational health and safety topics.
Strategies:
- Develop, maintain, and modify new or existing PDC courses as necessary.
- Solicit papers, organize sessions, provide session arrangers, chairs, and monitors for the AIHce.
- Goal: Actively participate in identifying and responding to construction occupational health issues.
Objective #3: Identify, evaluate, and comment on proposed regulations that impact the practice of industrial hygiene in the construction environment.
Strategies:
- Monitor and report on relevant activities by rulemaking organizations.
- Develop and recommend position papers to the AIHA Board.
- Develop and maintain liaisons with construction industry trade, labor, and safety organizations.
