February Meeting - February 21 - LeMont
Pittsburgh
Mark your calendar for Tuesday, February 21 for a luncheon at the LeMont in
Pittsburgh with guest speaker Aaron Trippler, Director of Government Affairs
for the American Industrial Hygiene Association (AIHA). Mr. Trippler directs
government affairs for more than 70 local sections and is chief liaison with
Congress and federal agencies. He has served in this capacity since 1992,
when he developed the AIHA government affairs program. The topic will be
“The Washington Buzz”.

December 2011
The Executive Committee of the
Pittsburgh AIHA held a business meeting on December 15, 2011 at Aracri's
in Greentree. The group discussed topics including 2011-2012 meeting
program, Treasurer’s Report, Secretary’s Report, Scholarships, AIHA
Elections /Nominations., etc.

2012 Local Section Membership Renewal
The 2012 Local Section Membership Renewal forms were mailed on December 6,
2011 - - The due date for payment is January 1, 2012. Please check over the
membership form and return promptly! Membership dues will be $15 again this
year (payable by cash, check, or PayPal).
Natl. AIHA Members - If you have already paid your local section membership
with your National membership, please review your local section renewal form
upon receipt and submit any changes via email.
If you would
like to renew your membership with a credit card via Paypal - click on the
"buy now" button below.

AIHA Pgh. Co-Sponsors NIOSH Stakeholder's Meeting
AIHA Pittsburgh along with International Safety Equipment Association (ISEA)
will sponsor the NIOSH 2012 Personal Protective Equipment Selection,
Use, and Expectations: PPT Stakeholder Meeting and Workshop.
This event will be held on March 20 and 21, 2012 at the Hyatt Regency
Pittsburgh Airport. Through theme-based presentations, our goal is to have
“success stories” from PPE users illustrating personal, real-life examples
of how personal protective equipment has prevented serious illness or
injury. If you have a success story you would like to share through a 10 –
15 minute oral presentation, please contact John Sporrer at

The Pittsburgh Local Section of the AIHA is a non-profit organization providing a
local forum for Industrial Hygienists in Western Pennsylvania, parts of West
Virginia and Ohio. The purpose of our organization is to promote the study,
evaluation, and control of environmental stresses in the workplace as they
impact the health and well being of our employees and the public. The local
section, by offering monthly programs and seminars, provides opportunities to
increase our knowledge of industrial and environmental health through the
exchange of ideas and the dissemination of information to our members.
This site is intended to provide Local Section
Members with information pertaining to membership, meetings, National AIHA
events, ABIH certification maintenance, and other Association information.
