Welcome to the AIHA Rio Grande Local Section Website

Coming soon:

The Rio Grande AIHA Section has begun the nomination and election process for officers and directors to serve on the RGAIHA Board during 2010.  We encourage you to volunteer to participate on the Board.  This fall we will be electing a new President-Elect, Secretary, Treasurer, and Board Member.  If you would like to run for any these positions please let me know by Wednesday, November 18.  Please contact Maria Smith @ mber@lanl.gov or fax at 505-665-8067.

What’s new?

  • Need to renew your local chapter membership? We are now offering two great ways to do this:

  • Click on the membership page to download the word document, mail in your registration form to Matt Custer with your payment. Or,

  •  Are you renewing your AIHA national membership? Great! Renew your local membership at the same time. We’ve partnered with the national office to be able to offer this – at no cost to the local chapter

Los Alamos Industrial Hygiene Foundation

As many of you know a Los Alamos Scholarship has been established by the AIHA Industrial Hygiene Foundation.  A member of our Section has offered to match any individual contributions (up to a total maximum of $1,000) contributed to the Los Alamos Scholarship between now and Oct. 30, 2009.

Contributions should be mailed directly to: Vickie Yobp, AIHA/IHF, 2700 Prosperity Ave, Suite #250, Fairfax, VA. 22031. Your contribution should be identified as specifically directed to the Los Alamos Scholarship.

The Rio Grande Section Board of Directors strongly encourages your contributions since it is in direct support of our profession's future, and honors the work (past/present/future) that many of us have/will provide to the profession.  The Section contributed $1,000 to this scholarship in 2008.

We realize that this is a time of financial uncertainty, but we hope that many
Section members can provide support for this Scholarship at this time since it is
directly tied to your profession and the matching situation exists.

·    This year we have been working on the bylaws to keep on track with what is currently happening at the national office. We will let you know when we have posted the bylaws to the website.

·    Know of any New Career Opportunities? Send copy of Job Advertisement to the chapter and reach our membership.  This will be posted on the “Career Opportunities” Link.

·    Do you know anyone that is interested on learning more in the Industrial Hygiene profession? Ask them to join our chapter.
