Message from the Acting PresidentAs you know Lt. Colonel Ed Klinenberg left at the end of March due to a job transfer to the St Louis area. We miss Ed and we wish him luck. Ed asked me to help with the Local Section until we could find someone to take the helm. I met with the existing Board members in May and we decided to put on an Indoor Air Quality luncheon. Mold, as you know, seems to be one of the hotest topics out there. Recently a 32 million dollar verdict coming out of the Houston Texas area has caused even greater concerns for insurers, building owners and to some degree industrial hygienists. At the least, many IHs will work in this area for a while. In any event here is what we planned:
Indoor Air Quality Luncheon
Bill Collier, Esq, CIH - Bill Collier & Associates, Vacaville, CA - Will discuss some legal issues related to contracting as Indoor Air Quality (IAQ) consultants. Two aspects 1) legal liability issues for IHs who contract to do this work, 2) What constitutes a construction defect that may have contributed to mold problems and related issues.

From Our Last Board Meeting....The Board met on May 18, 2000. The following items were discussed:Budget: We currently have $4527.00 in our bank account. However, we have not paid CIHC for the year. On the other hand there are a lot of members who have not paid their dues. Thus, Mark Cameron has attached a Dues Notice. Please pay - now. Board Members: We need ones. The current board will be calling each and every member to attempt to get new Board Members - we have lots of vacancies and we need you to step up to the plate and provide leadership for our local section. If you are interested call any of the Board members (See numbers on first page.) The next Board Meeting will be held at the Olive Garden off of Arden Way in Sacramento on June 29, 2001 @ 11:30 AM to approximately 1:30 PM. Anyone interesting in serving on the board may attend.
