Message from the Acting President

It has been an interersting and troubling time. With the attacks in New York, Washington and now pretty much everywhere else with Anthrax scare that is gripping the nation. Everyone in the profession is busy between the above and/or indoor air quality work. However, a great sadness is cast over the nation and our profession by terror, bioterrorism and fear of what's going to be next.

Section Comment:

As of this date no one has stepped up to plate volunteer to work as an officer other than those listed at the left. We still need board members if we want to keep the section alive. I will not continue in this role past June of next year. I simply have too much on my plate and have served so long. However, I must point out that Morie Oberg, Mark Cameron and a few others have served as well. We can only do so much and will keep working a while longer - but not forever. We need your help.

First, I want to apologize for calling the end of year meeting a "Christmans Party." It should have been called a "Holiday Party." After several phone calls and e-mails my mistake was evident to all and painfully evident to myself.

We are still planning a "Holiday Party" at Andiamos' on November 30, 2001 @ 11:30 AM-1:30 PM. The cost will be "fifteen dollars" a head and the Section will pick up the rest. We will have a fantastic program as well. Jack Oudiz, Senior Industrial Hygienist/Training Coordinator of DOSH Professional Dev. & Training Unit will speak to us about Cal-OSHA's work in New York at the WTC "Ground Zero." 0.5 CM points too!!!!

The Holiday luncheon will be at Andiamo's at 3145 Folsom Blvd. in Sacramento, CA. See attached registration form.

Other Section Activities:

Debbie Dietrich, of SKC, will conduct an indoor air quality monitoring training meeting on January 28, 2002. The meeting will last at least four hours and will cover all the new equipment and techniques in indoor air quality monitoring. A newletter in December will contain the flyer. The location will be at 2211 Parktown Circle, Ste. 5, Sacramento CA 95815.

In February there will be IH field trip at a local recycling center. Maurice Oberg is working on the details and they will come out in the December letter.

Please send any address and e-mail updates to: rockyone@pacbell.net

NOTE: We are looking to go to an all electronic newsletter distribution. Please provide us with your current e-mail address so we can keep you informed.
