Industrial Hygiene Specialist

Responsibilities:
- We are seeking a qualified and innovative Industrial Hygiene Specialist to join a progressive campus Environmental Health and Safety Program. Under direction from the Senior Manager, Occupational Health and Safety, the Industrial Hygiene Specialist will support and implement campus wide policies and procedures to assure compliance with federal, state and local requirements for University Health and Safety Programs. This individual will collaborate with campus faculty and staff in the efficient and integrated delivery of Health and Safety services to the campus community.
- Responsibilities include implementation of the Injury and Illness Prevention Safety program for non-academic areas. This includes Safety on Site training, coaching of work unit representatives, and preparing metrics and executive reports. Conduct injury and illness investigations and reports.
- This professional will provide project management skills to lead and manage cross-functional teams focused on complex health and safety issues. For example, project manage studies that evaluate health impacts of new energy saving technologies to ensure employee safety is not compromised. Focus on balancing safety needs while evaluating "smart lab" controls in support of campus sustainability initiatives.
- Key duties include conducting exposure assessments and monitoring. This includes assisting the Chemical Hygiene Officer with animal research protocol reviews that involve hazardous chemicals, conducting chemical and noise exposure assessments and monitoring, preparing exposure assessment reports with recommended corrective actions, and hearing conservation program development. This individual will also schedule and conduct independent laboratory safety surveys and other work area inspections to identify and evaluate a wide variety of potential chemical hazards in the work place. Incumbent will also respond to campus emergencies involving potentially hazardous materials.
Qualifications:
Minimum of 4 years direct experience in the field. A Bachelor's degree in Chemistry, Industrial Hygiene, Engineering, or other health-related field. Knowledge and experience applying laboratory safety and industrial hygiene principles and standards to the university environment. Knowledge of Cal-OSHA Standards and Sustainability Initiatives. Skilled in project management and training. Ability to interact effectively with faculty and staff using effective written and oral communication skills. Ability to work collaboratively in a team setting and to act as a project manager on large, complex projects. Knowledge of Power Point, Excel, and database or project management programs. Certified Industrial Hygienist desired.

Environmental Health and Safety Manager

The EHS manager reports directly to the General Manager and the EHS team reports to the manager.

DUTIES:
- Has a working knowledge of health, safety and environmental laws and regulations, and remains current in these areas.
- Develops and maintains compliance with health and safety programs such as:
-new process risk assessment and job hazards assessment
-OSHA hazard communication (employee right-to-know)
-physical and chemical exposure control programs (noise, ionizing and non-ionizing radiation, chemical exposure monitoring)
-personal protective equipment
-ergonomics
-confined space
-respiratory protection

- Leads all emergency response activities at the site. This includes the development and maintenance of plans, and the organization of training, for chemical emergencies, medical emergencies, fire, and severe weather.
- Leads investigation of employee accidents/incidents and environmental incidents. Ensures determination of root cause and development and implementation of prevention measures.
- Manages the workers' compensation program. Manages a strong return-to-work program. Ensures accurate completion of OSHA 300 log.
- Manages occupationally related medical evaluation programs.
- Responsible for all environmental permits including air emissions, wastewater discharge, storm water, and hazardous waste.
- Coordinates the solid waste management programs including all hazardous and non-hazardous wastes and recyclables. Audits all areas of the facility to ensure compliance with these programs.
- Responsible for development and maintenance of waste minimization / pollution prevention programs.
- In an accurate and timely manner, ensures completion of environmental reports such as industrial wastewater discharge, Community Right-to-Know (Tier II and Form R reports), spill incidents, pollution prevention.
- Ensures proper operation of wastewater treatment systems.
- Evaluates new processes and projects for their health, safety and environmental impact.
- Acts as primary interface with workers compensation and fire and risk management insurance companies.
- Responsible for developing and maintaining health, safety and environmental training for site personnel as necessary.
- Acts as a representative of the company with health, safety, and environmental regulatory authorities.
- Keeps facility management informed of al health, safety, and environmental issues and significant changes in regulations.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Minimum of a four year college degree in related field (e.g. occupational health and safety, risk management, chemical or environmental engineering, or physical sciences)
- At least four years of experience in health, safety, and environmental programs is required.
- Must have experience in negotiation with governmental agencies.
- Experience in printed circuit board industry or chemical industry is preferred.
- Primarily 1st shift, but weekend and off-shift work will be required.

EHS Program Management Specialist - Boeing
This position is with the Enterprise EHS Assessments organization. You will participate on, and at times lead, teams that assess EHS-related risk management efforts at site operations company-wide. Team participants use industry accepted auditing techniques to perform specific in-depth evaluations of site efforts to mitigate EHS-related risk. In addition to team participant activities, team leaders are required to plan the assessment, prepare the team, conduct all necessary communication with the subject site, prepare a final assessment report, present and discuss findings with site leadership, direct site personnel to resources to assist them with the effective closure of findings, track milestones and escalate issues as needed, and ensure that a follow-up review is performed to measure the effectiveness of the corrective actions. Site assessments are scheduled over a period of a few days to up to two weeks, based on the size, complexity, and risk profile of the site. Assessments team members also participate on various project teams developed out of enterprise-wide risk and trend analyses or to address new enterprise EHS initiatives. This position is based out of the Renton, Washington. A significant amount of travel is required for assessments, typically around 50%, but sometimes up to 70% when assessments are scheduled concurrently. Candidates should have an extensive background in environmental health and safety disciplines, and exhibit a sound working knowledge of regulatory requirements that pertain to air pollution control, water pollution control, hazardous waste management, industrial hygiene, and safety. Candidates should possess good team, communication, project management, organizational, and computing skills. Additional knowledge of internationally recognized EHS management systems (e.g., ISO 14001, OHSAS 18001, VPP) is desired.
Edcation and/or Experience
Bachelor's degree and typically 10 or more years' related work experience, a Master's degree and typically 8 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Senior Environmental Health and Safety Engineer - Industrial Hygiene Program Manager
EORM is seeking a dynamic industrial hygienist to fill a critical role at our client site Raytheon Space and Airborne Systems in Goleta, CA. This position is responsible for managing and implementing a complex industrial hygiene program in a semiconductor manufacturing facility at the site. This position will be able to self-create an industrial hygiene approach, which means the successful candidate must be a self-starter who can perform tasks and actively manage the entire industrial hygiene program. This Environmental, Health and Safety (EHS) position will be responsible for creating and implementing solutions in a team environment.
Typical duties will involve the following:
- Oversee all aspects of industrial hygiene program management and implementation including exposure monitoring, hearing conservation, noise, respiratory protection, radio frequency, radiation (ionizing and nonionizing), ventilation, radioactive sources, and lasers:
- Identify hazardous workplace conditions, take appropriate industrial hygiene samples/measurements of physical and/or chemical exposures, interpret the data, and recommend controls and/or personal protective equipment.
- Interpret federal, state and local laws, regulations, and orders as they apply to industrial hygiene practices and regulatory reporting.
- Assume the role of Laser Safety Officer for the site and be the liaison between EHS and the laser customers.
- Assume the role of Radiation Safety Officer (RSO) for the site and be the liaison between EHS and the radioactive material and X-ray customers.
- Assume the role of Electromagnetic Energy Environment Criteria (EEEC) Manager for the site and be the liaison between EHS and the RF customers.
- Advance environmental, health and safety performance improvement in support of company policies and regulatory requirements.
- Develop and implement environmental, health and safety management systems to integrate EHS into the business operations.
- Recommend and develop appropriate strategies to address company safety, health and environmental policies/standards and regulatory requirements.
