The March 29th meeting on “Respiratory Protection in Law Enforcement,” gave our local members insight on Industrial Hygiene’s role in law enforcement. The guest speaker, Heather McArthur, is a nationally renowned expert on police Respiratory Protection issues. Under Ms. McArthur’s direction, Phoenix AZ outfitted every law enforcement officer with PPE for response to WMD/CBRN incidents, including the training and fit testing to make this possible, for the department of 3000 sworn police officers. Ms. McArthur was also a presenter for the AIHA Teleweb, "Meth Lab Decontamination" in 2005. CNY AIHA and CNY ASSE financially supported Ms. Arthur’s trip to Central New York. Her expertise was shared through several presentations at the CNY AIHA breakfast, the CNY Air Waste Management Conference, and the Onondaga Community College Public Training Center.
