Come one, come all, to the greatest show in Wallingford!
We have an exciting meeting coming up quickly, May 8th, at the
Yankee Silversmith Inn, starting at 5:30 for cocktails, 6pm dinner,
then the meeting.
Our presenter will be Cheryl Fields, an epidemiologist who teaches
toxicology at Yale, and has completed an intensive, exhaustive
review of current evidence of the effects of elemental Mercury! It
will be very interesting and very "up-to-date" with the latest and
greatest information available!
So, everyone should come to hear this presentation, and also consume
scrumptious, delectable dinner choices, with an exciting surprise dessert!
The dinner choices are Chicken Asparagus (topped with Portobello
mushrooms, roma tomatoes, serves scampi style), Roasted Sirloin of Beef (with
natural pan gravy and mushrooms), and Roast Pork Loin (stuffed with sweet
sausage & cornbread and topped with apple, walnut cider glaze, but no
mushrooms). I know that everyone is very excited about this.
The cost, as usual, will be $25, and you can contact me (either by e-
mail or calling 203-929-3473) or contact Denese Deeds
(d.deeds@ih-sc.com or calling
203-929-3473) to let us know what you're going to have for dinner.
So, I hope to see everyone there! If anyone needs directions to the
Yankee Silversmith, located at 1033 North Colony Rd (Route 5) in
Wallingford, you can check out their website at
www.yankeesilversmith.com or
e-mail me and I'll be thrilled to help.
Also, save the date for the fall all-day now being held in
Sturbridge, CT, November 9th.

March 21, 2007: Control Banding - Application in the Real
World presented by Anne Bracker, MPH, CIH, University of Connecticut Health
Center, Division of Occupational and Environmental Medicine
Control Banding is a chemical risk management model that has
received
international acclaim. The model can be used to complement the
traditional air sampling approach to risk assessment so that limited health and
safety dollars can be directed to exposure prevention and controls.
Connecticut was one of the first states to provide training on how to use
this control focused tool. Health and safety committees from a diverse
group of workplaces attended a series of Control Banding workshops. Through
several “hands on” interactive activities workshop participants learned how to
use COSHH Essentials, a Control Banding toolkit. The focus of the presentation
will be on the participants’ experiences with using the model.
In addition, case studies will be presented by two of the health and safety
committees that attended the program.
