Tambrands Tour: August 30, 2006

On August 30, 2006 nine DEAIHA members went to Tambrands in Auburn for a tour of the manufacturing process. The tour was graciously hosted by Karen LaRue, the Safety Coordinator for the plant. The facility is a fascinating place with high speed machines running in an extremely clean environment.

The process requires fully automated equipment to manufacture tampons from the raw absorbent material right through to the packaging and palletizing cases of the final product. From a safety standpoint, the plant and people were very well protected. All machinery was guarded, housekeeping was impeccable, LOTO was obvious and employees wore the proper PPE for the tasks.
Thanks again to Karen and Tambrands for hosting a tour of such an interesting business.
