Under the direction of the Sr. Manager, EHS the successful candidate will have responsibility for supporting various requirements outlined in site Environment, Health, and Safety programs. As a core member of the site EHS team, the candidate will be expected to interact frequently with internal clients, be action oriented, and spend time on the floor engaged in the operations of the facility. The candidate should be able to implement, manage, and monitor aspects of EHS programs at the site level and manage competing priorities on a routine basis. This role will have responsibilities across the Environment, Health, and Safety functional area; however, majority of work will be supporting the Occupational Safety related programs.

Specific tasks include but are not limited to:
• Assist in the interpretation of EHS regulations to ensure compliance with Corporate, Federal, State and local requirements;
• Perform EHS inspections throughout the facility (lab, manufacturing, construction);
• Perform job hazard analysis and support Industrial hygiene, ergonomic, and other safety assessments as needed;
• Participate in emergency response activities and be a member of the emergency on call team on a rotating basis;
• Complete and Provide EHS related training;
• Support EHS reviews of new material acquisitions;
• Maintain appropriate records and documentation;
• Identify and assist in implementing EHS program improvement initiatives;
• Partner with all levels of internal client and site/corporate EHS organizations;
• Act as an EHS representative for internal client organizations;
• Assist in Accident/Incident investigations and Root Cause Analysis

Basic Qualifications

Master’s degree OR Bachelor’s degree and 2 years of directly related experience

OR

Associate’s degree and 6 years of directly related experience

OR

High school diploma / GED and 8 years of directly related experience

Preferred Qualifications

BS degree in environmental, safety, technical, scientific or engineering fields. 6 to 8 years of experience developing/supporting EHS programs within industry. Posses one or more professional credentials (CIH, CSP, ASP, CHMM). Previous experience working within the biotechnology sector, preferably in a cGMP environment.

As a Loss Prevention, Safety/IH Consultant II/Sr you will work with Corporate Risk Management, Safety Management, and Plant/Facility Management contacts as well as brokerage firms in a defined region (Northeast and East Coast) to coordinate Safety and Industrial Hygiene Services for our casualty line of business for our National Account customers with premium in excess of $500,000.

What You’ll Do

The following are some of the responsibilities of the National Account Safety/IH Services Consultant Sr that would be located preferably in Eastern PA. Travel responsibilities include the Northeast primarily with some East-SE Coast travel likely.  

·        Design, develop, and manage Service Plans for large, multi location National Accounts and coordinate service activity (casualty services) with other National Account consultants/staff specialists.

·        Planning and delivery of Safety/Risk Management services to our National Account customers to include Safety Program Assessments/Gap Analysis, Leadership Training, Program Development, Loss Analysis – Benchmarking and assistance in Safety Culture Development.

·        Provide supplemental Industrial Hygiene Services to include noise and air quality surveys to support our Industrial Hygiene staff and provide ongoing customer support on a National Account level.

·        Develop, coordinate, and conduct safety training programs and seminars for insured and non-insured customers to elevate their understanding and awareness of safety, OSHA, loss potential and injury reduction techniques.

·        Maintain proficient knowledge in all aspects of Safety Management Practices and demonstrate technical expertise in specialty area(s) such as Ergonomics, Behavior Based Safety, Accident Investigation Principles – Root Cause Analysis, Safety Culture Development, Metric Development, OSHA Compliance, Fleet Safety, and Product Liability.

·        The National Account Consultant II/Senior enhances the client’s technical knowledge and expertise through professional seminars and topic research as advances occur.

What it Takes

  • Four year degree within Safety Sciences Required
  • A minimum 2-5 years of advanced knowledge in safety and industrial hygiene experience with a National Property & Casualty Insurance carrier preferred
  • Preferred experience in coordinating and servicing large or multi-location National Accounts
  • Knowledge of OSHA, ACGIH, ANSI, NFPA Standards
  • “Certified Safety Professional” (CSP), Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH) or willingness to pursue is desired
  • An acceptable motor vehicle record and ability to perform extensive travel is required. (50% to 70% travel)

Position Description

This position will be responsible for providing industrial hygiene and occupational health support to all Cabot locations. The right candidate will need the skills to interface with plant SH&E staff, operations and maintenance managers, and front line workers and to assist the corporation manage its’ occupational health risks. 

Specific responsibilities include:
·Conduct and assist with exposure investigations and mitigation, in conjunction with site and functional teams.
·Provide technical interface with facilities and external consultants.
·Coach and develop IH skills for site SH&E professionals, and provide facility support on IH/occupational health issues in both manufacturing, R&D and administrative settings.
·Participate in corporate SH&E audits and development of corporate standards, guidelines and resources.
·Review exposure data for all Cabot facilities, and conduct similar exposure group (SEG) statistical analyses.
·Conduct monthly quality assurance checks of global IH data, track and manage issues by site, and help users with inquiries/issues as they arise.
·Assist with site sampling plan development and provide technical IH support to all Cabot locations, as needed.
·Develop and distribute periodic update/metric reporting.
·Support IH data management system (Medgate GX) and associated training.
·Manage corporate IH equipment inventory.
·Participate in corporate occupational health program development, including aging workforce initiatives, pandemic planning/response, medical surveillance and fitness for duty.
 
Qualifications
This position requires:
· Bachelor’s degree in engineering or IH-related science.
·Minimum of 6-8 years of IH experience in the manufacturing sector (chemical industry preferred) and general experience with occupational safety and environmental programs and best practices.
·A Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH) or pursuing the CIH credential.
·The successful candidate must have the ability to work effectively across organizational and functional boundaries.
· Technically knowledgeable and experienced in comprehensive IH program management, risk and exposure assessment, statistical analysis, air and noise sampling, IH root cause analysis, exposure reduction or elimination and ergonomics.
·Experience with nanoparticle management, international program implementation and interface, communicable disease/pandemic planning, and injury and illness case management are preferred.
·Strong planning, organization and problem solving skills – strategically and tactically.
·Strong oral and written communication skills, interacting with multiple levels of an organization.
·Must be able to travel 20-30% (domestic and international).
·Must be able to meet the physical demands of the position.
·Experience with Medgate GX a plus.

For GS-9: One year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-7 level in the civil service system in one or more of different types of construction such as commercial, residential, or heavy construction which demonstrates each of the following: (1) ability to analyze work processes and conditions, identifying and eliminating/controlling safety and occupational health hazards pertaining to construction; and (2) general knowledge of OSHA or related safety and occupational health standards or codes pertaining to construction.
