On Wednesday, October 15 the AIHA Pittsburgh Section will meet to view the AIHA teleweb entitled "What Industrial Hygienists Should Know About Risk Management and Insurance".
This course will provide an overview of the risk management and insurance profession from the health and safety program perspective, specifically addressing:
 | how an organization’s loss exposures are identified and analyzed |
| how risk management alternatives are evaluated |
| how the most desirable option is selected |
| the implementation of selected risk management techniques |
| the monitoring of effectiveness |
Suggested strategies for adapting programs to the risk management organizational environment will be presented.
Students will be provided with tools to better able them to:
| understand how an organization’s universe of loss exposures are identified and analyzed, |
| understand how risk management alternatives are evaluated, |
| determine how the most desirable options are selected, |
| assist in the implementation of selected risk management techniques, and assist in the monitoring of program effectiveness |
About the Speaker: Dr. Robert Emery, Ph.D., CIH, CHP, CSP, RBP, CHMM, CPP, ARM
Dr. Emery is the Assistant Vice President for Safety, Health, Environment & Risk Management for The University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston and Associate Professor of Occupational Health at the University of Texas School of Public Health. Bob has over 25 years of experience in health & safety and holds masters degrees in health physics and environmental sciences, and a doctorate in occupational health. Bob is unique in that he possesses national board certification and registration in all of the main areas of health & safety;

Bob is the author of many peer-reviewed articles on practical health and safety topics and makes frequent presentations on such issues at the local and national level.

This TeleWeb is
approved for 0.5 IH certification maintenance (CM) points, and has been
awarded 0.25 continuance of certification (COCs), and 0.25 continuing
education units (CEUs). Individual participants seeking CM points, COCs, and CEUs must view the TeleWeb and complete the final exam, evaluation, and processing fee of $35 per student within 1 month. |
