2009 Science Fair Winners
The Pittsburgh Local Chapter of the AIHA sponsored two student awards this
year, for $50.00 each. The first award was given to Matthew McCarthy.
Matthew is a 7th grader at St. Joseph Regional in Portview. His project was
entitled "Do Movie Previews Prevent Hearing Loss". Matthew did a great
presentation that incorporated elements of NIOSH and OSHA. Our second award
went to Erik Rauterkus. Erik is an 8th grader at Pittsburgh Frick. Erik's
project was entitled "Lead in Local Soils". Erik also did a great
presentation and incorporated his class work with his own ideas about taking
soils samples and analyzing them for lead.
Congratulations to the winners - thank you to the following judges who
participated this year: Maureen Sammons - Treasurer, Paula Sweitzer,
and Dan Flanagan - President-Elect.

section, by offering monthly programs and seminars, provides opportunities to
increase our knowledge of industrial and environmental health through the
exchange of ideas and the dissemination of information to our members.
This site is intended to provide Local Section
