The Chesapeake Section of the American Industrial Hygiene Association (AIHA) is one of the national association's original local sections.  At one time it encompassed the entire geographical area of the Potomac Valley, extending eastward to the Susquehanna River and Maryland's Eastern Shore of the Chesapeake Bay.  The original region was inclusive of the metropolitan Baltimore and District of Columbia (DC) areas.  In the early 1980s, due to growing commerce and industry around metropolitan DC, the Chesapeake Section was split into two:  the Chesapeake Section now includes the northern Potomac Valley and eastward to the Susquehanna River and the Eastern Shore and inclusive of the metropolitan Baltimore area; the Potomac Section encompasses the Washington, D.C. metropolitan area, which includes the nearby Maryland and northern Virginia areas.

The purpose of this web site is to keep section members informed of its activities and opportunities for professional development available, as well as outreaching to other local professional organization and groups, and local communities.
