General Information

Certification Maintenance

PCIH is approved for certification maintenance (CM) points by the American Board of Industrial Hygiene (ABIH).

Diplomates who instruct industrial hygiene courses receive 1.0 CM point per .5 day, 1/3 point per hour and presentations which are > 15 minutes but < 60 minutes will receive 1/4 point. Peer reviewed presentations, greater than or equal to 20 minutes, are awarded 1.0 CM point.

For a record of course attendance, ABIH requires:

  • PCIH 2008 course certificate

For a record of session attendance, ABIH requires:

  • PCIH 2008 registration receipt AND
  • PCIH 2008 hotel bill or approved expense report

CEUs and COCs

AIHA is approved as an authorized provider by the International Association of Continuing Education and Training (IACET) to award CEUs to participants successfully completing courses.

AIHA is authorized by the Board of Certified Safety Professionals (BCSP) to issue continuance of certification (COC) points in conjunction with the CSP certification.

Attendance and participation in assigned activities and projects is required to earn CM points, CEUs, and COCs.

New! Beginning in 2008, a $35 replacement fee will be charged to issue lost documentation including course certificates and letters verifying attendance.

Request for Replacement of Lost Documentation for Certification Maintenance

A $50 replacement fee will be charged for AIHA to perform a full audit of the last 1-3 years of attendance and/or completion of the following:

  • AIHce
  •  Professional Development Courses (PDCs) held at AIHce
  • Management Certificate Courses
  • PCIH
  • Professional Development Courses (PDCs) held at PCIH
  • Distance Learning Courses (TeleWebs, Self Study Courses, DVDs, Webcourses, Synergist Tests, Etc.)
  • AIHA Roadcourses (FIH, CIH, HVAC, etc.)

and provide a letter verifying participation and/or successful completion of all applicable coursework that awards certification maintenance points (CM Points, CEUs, COCs). Additional certificates will not be issued. A minimum of three weeks turn around time must be allotted for so that the comprehensive audit may be completed.

AIHA will not perform audits of courses/conferences held beyond three years, but will provide contact information for resources/vendors from which the information may or may not be obtained.

Leave the Tampa Waterside Marriott phone number with your home and office—(813) 221-4900. Callers should ask to be connected to PCIH registration. Incoming messages will be posted at registration; no paging service is available.

Advance Registration and Hotel Reservations

The deadline to register in advance, purchase tickets, and make hotel reservations is October 10, 2008. Badges, tickets, and final programs will be available at the conference.

After October 10, register on site at the Tampa Waterside Marriott. Registration opens Friday, November 7, 4:00 p.m.-6:00 p.m.

Conference registration includes admission to general sessions, workshops/thinkshops, the Expo, breaks, and the welcome reception. One-day registration entitles the registrant to attend educational and social activities held that day. Exhibit Hall Only registration, valid for both days, is available on site for $35.

To qualify for the AIH/AIHA member rate, the participant must be a current member, having paid dues for FY 2008 at the time he or she registers. A nonmember student must submit a letter from his or her faculty advisor, verifying current enrollment in an IH graduate program.

Spouses and guests are welcome to attend PCIH at no cost. Request badges at on site registration in Tampa.

Full payment of registration and event fees is required in advance of the conference. Meeting materials will not be issued without payment in full prior to the conference.

Purchase Orders: POs are accepted from state and federal government agencies ONLY. Registrants must fax or mail the Advance Registration form; online registration is not available. A credit card is required to guarantee a hotel reservation.

Tickets

Purchase tickets by October 10 to take advantage of reduced fees. It is not necessary to register for PCIH to attend the symposium, management certificate course, or PDCs.

Join us at Columbia Restaurant, Florida's oldest and most honored Spanish Restaurant. In addition to award winning Spanish/Cuban cuisine, the night will include a lively flamenco dance performance.

Breakfast and Luncheon Discussions: Each Discussion is limited. Breakfast or a light lunch is included. Special meal requests must be noted on the registration form. Breakfast Discussion fees are $35 by October 10, $45 after October 10. Luncheon fees are $45 before October 10, $55 after October 10.

Solutions Workshops and Thinkshops: Registration is included in the conference fee; however, capacities are limited and seats are filled first-come, first-served. There is no guarantee all workshops will be available on site. Advance selection is strongly encouraged. Be certain to list choices 1-4.

Technical Tour: This year’s tour to the Tampa Port Authority will be Monday afternoon. There is no fee; however, capacity is limited to 40 people and advance registration is required. Note, the solutions workshops/thinkshops and the tour run concurrently; it is not possible to attend a workshop/thinkshop and participate in the tour. Identification is required on site. You must be a U.S. citizen to participate.

Hotel Reservations

The Tampa Marriott Waterside Hotel is a three-star luxury waterfront hotel in the heart of Downtown Tampa’s Channelside District. This hotel offers elegant amenities for work and play, complete business services, and luxury accommodations, with city or bay views available. Each room features a workspace with high-speed Internet access and dual-line speakerphones, as well as coffee service, and luxurious bedding.

The hotel has a fitness room, as well as a full service spa and outside pool. The hotel is nonsmoking.

The Marriott is within steps of Tampa’s main attractions such as Ybor City, the Florida Aquarium, and the Tampa Bay Performing Arts Center, and just minutes from Busch Gardens and SeaWorld. Check with the hotel concierge for information on these and other activities.

Room rates are $169 single/double, plus 12 percent tax (taxes are subject to change without notice). Rates are valid November 2-15, 2008, subject to availability. A limited number of government rate rooms are available and may be requested by fax or mail only.

A credit card is required to guarantee a hotel reservation. Hotel reservations cannot be processed without a credit card to hold the room. The card may be charged one night’s room and tax by the hotel to secure the reservation.

The deadline for making reservations is October 10, 2008. After this date, rooms may be reserved at the conference rate on a space-available basis only.

Confirmation

Confirmation of online registration/hotel reservations will be sent within seven business days of processing. Receipt of mailed or faxed forms cannot be acknowledged. You will receive a separate confirmation for housing and registration.

Please check confirmations carefully. Due to sophisticated anti-spam programs, e-mail confirmations may be blocked. If you do not receive your confirmation within two weeks of registering online or by fax, check with your systems administrator or contact Experient at (330) 425-9330 and request a copy of your confirmation by fax. Please do not contact AIHA; staff cannot issue confirmations.

Changes/Cancellations/Refunds

Registration: Fax requests for registration changes and cancellations to (330) 963-0319 or e-mail pcih2008@experient-inc.com. Changes and cancellations will not be accepted by telephone. A $50 cancellation fee will be assessed on all cancellations. No refunds will be granted for requests received after October 10. Refunds will be issued within four weeks after the conference. Refunds will not be issued to “no shows.”

Hotel Reservations: Direct reservation changes and cancellations to (330) 963-0319 or e-mail pcih2008@experient-inc.com by October 17. After October 17, you must contact the hotel directly. Failure to cancel a reservation 72 hours prior to arrival will result in one night’s room and tax charged to the registrant’s credit card.
