The National Toxicology Program (NTP) is requesting information on 20 substances, mixtures, and exposure circumstances that have been nominated for possible review for future editions of the Report on Carcinogens (RoC). NTP plans to use this information to identify nominated substances to propose for formal evaluation for the RoC. The RoC is published biennially and includes information about substances in the environment that potentially put people at increased risk for cancer in the United States. The list of substances is available on NTP’s website and in a notice in the Sept. 20 issue of the Federal Register.
Specifically, NTP requests information for each substance on the following topics:
data on current production, use patterns, and human exposure
information about published, ongoing, or planned studies related to evaluating carcinogenicity
scientific issues important for assessing carcinogenicity of the substance
names of scientists with expertise or knowledge about the substance
The deadline to submit information is Oct. 18. Information can be submitted electronically via NTP’s website.
The 12th RoC is the latest edition of the publication. The 13th RoC is currently under development.
