Scholarship Program

The Middle Tennessee Section of the American Industrial Hygiene Association (MTS-AIHA)

Executive Committee awards up to three scholarships to students enrolled in occupational safety and health programs in universities in the Middle Tennessee area. In order to make the scholarships more meaningful to the students and more beneficial to the local section, the executive committee provides a contest for the scholarship awards.

Students that are currently enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate Occupational Safety, Health, or Industrial Hygiene program must prepare a research paper on a timely industrial hygiene/occupational health/safety topic. The papers should address the characteristics, current standards, history, toxicity, environmental implications, control mechanisms, and current status of that particular topic.

The students chosen will be invited to present their papers at the Fall quarterly MTS-AIHA meeting in November, at which time, the scholarship checks will be awarded. Presentations are 10 minutes long with 5 minutes left for questions from the membership.
