FALLS CHURCH, Va. (September 19, 2013) — On September 11, 2013, the Asia Pacific Laboratory Accreditation Cooperation (APLAC) voted affirmatively to continue AIHA Laboratory Accreditation Programs’ (AIHA-LAP, LLC) recognition and signatory status of the APLAC Mutual Recognition Arrangement (MRA). This recognition status will remain in effect until 2017, when AIHA-LAP is reevaluated.
“We’re very grateful to the entire AIHA-LAP team, volunteer leadership, and our site assessors and accredited laboratories who agreed to be witnessed during the evaluation of AIHA-LAP that took place this past summer,” said Cheryl O. Morton, managing director of AIHA-LAP.
AIHA-LAP signed the APLAC MRA in Osaka, Japan, in 2010. With its continued APLAC MRA signatory status, AIHA-LAP will continue to be recognized by the International Laboratory Accreditation Cooperation (ILAC). For customers of AIHA-accredited laboratories, this means that they can continue to be confident that data from AIHA-LAP accredited laboratories are equivalent to data produced from other ILAC-recognized laboratories.
The APLAC was initiated in 1992 as a forum for laboratory accreditation bodies in the Asia Pacific region. APLAC was developed to establish, develop and expand a mutual recognition arrangement among accreditation bodies in the region. APLAC is recognized by the Asia Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) as one of five Specialist Regional Bodies (SRBs) that support the work of the APEC Sub-Committee on Standards and Conformance.
The AIHA Laboratory Accreditation Programs, LLC offers a group of highly acclaimed accreditation programs that has been relied on in the global scientific community for almost 40 years.
