Premier event for industrial hygienists will mark profession’s 75th anniversary in San Antonio

FALLS CHURCH, Va. (July 15, 2013) —  The submission portal for presentations and professional development courses (PDCs) for the 2014 American Industrial Hygiene Conference and Exposition (AIHce) is now open.  Occupational and environmental health and safety (OEHS) professionals are invited to submit their work in more than 40 categories, including chemical and biological stressors, sustainability, detection, management systems, and regulatory guidelines.

AIHce 2014, co-sponsored by the American Industrial Hygiene Association® (AIHA) and the American Conference of Governmental Industrial Hygienists® (ACGIH), will take place May 31 through June 5, 2014, in San Antonio, Texas. AIHA will mark the 75th anniversary of the industrial hygiene profession at this premier event, and celebrate its long history of protecting worker health and serving the IH community.

“For 75 years, AIHce has been the must-attend event of the year for thousands of OEHS professionals worldwide,” said AIHA President Barbara J. Dawson, CIH, CSP. “We invite them to contribute to this conference in 2014, a landmark year, by submitting a presentation in their area of expertise that will inspire their colleagues with the solutions and best practices they will need to excel in their daily workplace challenges.”

Stewardship 2014 will be held concurrently with AIHce as a conference within a conference.  Sponsored by AIHA’s Product Stewardship Society, Stewardship 2014 will bring together prominent experts and practitioners involved in minimizing the health, safety, environmental, and social impacts of products and packaging to discuss and present current issues and case studies.  OEHS professionals are encouraged to submit PDCs and technical presentations in several product stewardship-related topics including exposure assessment, hazard communications, pollution prevention, product safety, and risk assessment.

PDCs, which are focused, more formal learning experiences, will take place May 31 through June 2, while the technical presentations will occur June 3 through June 5.  The PDC proposal deadline is September 1 and the technical presentation proposal deadline is September 13, 2013.  For more information about submitting proposals, please visit http://aihce2014.org.
