FALLS CHURCH, Va.
(February 16, 2017) — The American Industrial Hygiene Association® (AIHA)
has named Thomas P. Fuller, ScD, CIH, CSP, MSPH, MBA, as its representative to the International Occupational Hygiene Association (IOHA)
. This is a volunteer position with a three-year term. As AIHA’s representative to IOHA, Dr. Fuller will be an integral part of planning IOHA 2018: Bringing Better Health to Workers Worldwide
. The IOHA international conference will be held September 24-26, 2018 at the Marriott Marquis Washington, D.C. Dr. Fuller is a Certified Industrial Hygienist and Certified Safety Professional with over 35 years of experience in occupational safety, industrial hygiene, infection control, environmental management, and public health. He has experience in healthcare, nuclear power plants, labor organizations, biopharmaceutical labs, manufacturing, and universities.
Dr. Fuller has been a member or AIHA since 1996. He is a past Chair, of the AIHA Nonionizing Radiation Committee. He is also a member of the Health Care Working Group, Publications Committee, and a founding member of the AIHA Pandemic Planning Team. He is the Vice-Chair of the International Affairs Committee and AIHA Ambassador to France. He is also a member of Workplace Health Without Borders. Dr. Fuller is a Contributing Editor for the American Journal of Nursing, on the board of directors of Health Educators, Inc., and a member of the Editorial Advisory Board of the National Safety Council. Dr. Fuller is a past President of the Board of Directors of the Journal of Occupational and Environmental Health (JOEH) and Dr. Fuller was recently admitted to the International Commission on Occupational Health.
The IOHA international conference is held every three years, hosted by one of IOHA’s 34 member organizations and AIHA is proud to organize the 11th international conference. Professional Development Courses (PDCs) will be held the weekend before the conference, September 22-23, 2018. The call for Technical Committee Members will open in June 2017 at AIHce EXP
in Seattle, WA and the call for proposals for educational programming will open in January 2018. Registration is not anticipated to open until March 2018.
