A Hope for the World

It’s a simple hope, but sometimes those are the most powerful. “A world where all workers are healthy and safe”—that is AIHA’s vision, a whispered idea given power by those who respond to the call, drawn by its promise and inspired by its humble audacity. In this season of reflection, we pause, take stock of our blessings, and focus on our reason for being. We tell stories and are reminded of the great things that once were and hold in our hearts the hope of those things yet to come—things that we willingly pledge to make happen.

On a more granular level, this is also the season of planning. We arrange get-togethers with family, friends, and colleagues, decorate our lives with emblems of joy, set goals for ourselves, and envision a future whose beauty motivates us to realize our dreams.

The simple hope of AIHA’s vision is echoed by the simple goal of our government relations plan for the coming year: we are asking each Local Section to establish one government relations goal for 2020. At every step along the way, AIHA will help our members meet the goals they set for themselves, organizing monthly calls, providing training and access to powerful project management software, and more. Individually and collectively, we are strong. Together, we can help create public policies that protect workers and their communities.

Wishing you and yours a truly joyful holiday season and a happy New Year. Thanks for a great 2019! (For a list of this year’s accomplishments, please see my recent blog post.)
