Furthering a Global Vision with International Membership

AIHA membership extends beyond the United States and Canada, spanning countries worldwide. With outreach efforts for emerging economies and an international strategy aimed at increasing awareness of occupational health and safety in countries where it’s needed, we are furthering our shared vision of a world where all workers are healthy and safe.

AIHA offers individuals who reside outside of the U.S. and Canada international e-membership. E-membership is the perfect way for members who live abroad to stay connected to peers and up to date on global topics, technology, and trends within the industry. E-members also receive access to resources for advancing their careers.

The COVID-19 pandemic has hastened the shift to virtual technologies, and networking and accessing resources have never been easier. Recorded AIHce EXP sessions, AIHA University courses, and Synergist webinars are offered on-demand anywhere in the world. Recursos en español, a new feature of AIHA’s website, includes public resources in the Spanish language to promote health and safety in our workplaces and better serve the Spanish-speaking community. AIHA plans to translate these resources into other languages.

Networking opportunities start with the Catalyst community. This virtual platform for more than 8,000 OEHS professionals is the perfect place to start discussions, join community rooms, or just keep up with events and announcements.

The AIHA mentoring program is also available to international members. You can match with a mentor or mentee based on your preferences, skills, and needs. The platform facilitates virtual meetings and online chat on PCs or mobile devices. Mentorship opens new doors in your professional and personal development and is a valuable benefit of membership.

The virtual section, designed for AIHA members who don’t have access to a local section, is perfect for our international members. There is also a new Spanish-language virtual section community.

AIHA international members also have the opportunity to join volunteer groups, where they can hone their skills and help advance the profession through the creation of white papers, guidance documents, Synergist articles, and other projects. Consider joining the International Affairs Committee—a great place to get started, with leadership opportunities and room for professional growth. AIHA also provides members with the opportunity to serve as an ambassador in international locations. These positions are intended to support the development of OEHS professionals in other countries. Ambassador positions are available in Mexico, Brazil, and Puerto Rico. If you are interested in applying, please visit the AIHA ambassador program page.

AIHA is a global association with members around the world. As an AIHA member, you have access to the tools and resources you need to be an expert at your job no matter where you reside. If you aren’t already a member, learn more about joining on the AIHA website.
