What’s Happening at AIHA

In this space, I recently spent some time going over the changes and challenges in today’s occupational health and safety industry. We know that the terminology we’ve long used is no longer entirely reflective of what we do, and that we are also at a point when demand for occupational health and safety professionals is growing and gaining wider recognition.

Changes in our industry at large have inspired changes here at AIHA. We’re making a number of efforts to advance the organization and the services we provide to our members.

To that end, we are striving to become a more forward-looking organization for all occupational health and safety professionals. We will continue taking a leadership role in advancing our profession as a whole and professionals individually. We will amplify our collective voice to a greater extent and provide you with the materials you need to make the most of your career in OHS—and your membership at AIHA.

We understand that to sustain our industry, this association, and, most importantly, the future health and safety of workers, we need to recruit younger professionals into our ranks. In the coming months, you will see new initiatives and efforts to get students and early-career professionals interested in all that occupational health and safety has to offer. This is, quite possibly, the most notable aspect of our new, forward-looking nature.

And to all our members: we want to ensure that you are getting the most from your membership each and every day. We will be responsive to your feedback, building an AIHA that is stronger than ever. You come here to make meaningful connections, for professional development, for guidance, and more, and it is our mission to ensure that we deliver on all of those fronts.

This is a crucial time for AIHA. There are big things happening here. This summer, we are eager to share with you what the future of AIHA will look like.
