Submit a Proposal

Submission Information 

Each year AIHA strives to create new educational opportunities for the IH and OEHS community. To facilitate providing this information, open calls for submissions of proposals for PDCs, eLearning courses and technical sessions are offered throughout the year. Information on each type of submission, general timelines and criteria for each is listed below.

Professional Development Courses

Submission Period: 1st day of AIHce through September 1, 2013
Criteria
For complete information, definitions, examples and expectations please review the actual submission portal.
 
To be considered, proposals must contain the following:
  • PDC Title
  • PDC Level: Introductory, Intermediate, Advanced
  • PDC History: New, Repeat, or Updated
  • Scheduling Type: Half-day, full-day, or two-day
  • Scheduling Subtype: Saturday or Sunday.
  • Capacity: 35, 45, or 60 participants.
  • Topic Preference: Primary topic and up to two additional (optional) topic areas
  • Volunteer Group (AIHA) Sponsorship. (optional)
  • Prerequisites
  • Learning Outcomes: Measurable one-sentence bullets in ascending order
  • Value Added: “Extra or special” items and features
  • Outline/ Agenda
  • Description: A clear, concise summary
  • Instructional Methods: Description of teaching techniques
  • Transfer of Knowledge: Must incorporate or include one of the following: post course test, hands-on demonstrations and practicum, practice exercises, workshops, group activities, interactive games
  • Learning Aids: Any items participants MUST bring
  • Publications: (optional) Not automatically approved, cost limit: $45 per participant
  • Instructors: Primary and Co-Instructors. Complete contact information and 1-2 paragraph biography for each instructor must be included
Additionally, proposal content must meet or exceed the requirements set forth by certifying bodies. Including: ABIH, ANSI/ IACET (2007 Standard for Continuing Education and Training), BCSP, CRBOH and BCRSP.

Honoraria (if accepted)
Yes, flat fee; $2000 for two-day PDCs, $1000 for full-day PDCs, $500 for half-day. PDCs, may be waived and/or donated to the AIHF
 

Technical Sessions

(Crossovers - CS, Roundtables - RT, Podiums - PO, Posters - PS)

eLearning

Submission Period: Continuous
Submission Deadline: Continuous
Criteria
Before submitting a proposal contact the eLearning Team to discuss complete information, definitions, examples and expectations.
  • Format: Webinar, Webcourse, Podcast, Videocast, Electronic Workbook/Self Study, Pre-recorded, Live or other blended elearning offering.
  • Title
  • Level: Introductory, Intermediate, Advanced
  • Topic Preference: Primary topic and up to two additional (optional) topic areas.
  • Estimated date/time of course delivery or development timeframe
  • (AIHA®) Volunteer Group Sponsorship: (optional)
  • Prerequisites.
  • Learning Outcomes: Measurable one-sentence bullets in ascending order
  • Value Added: “Extra or special” items and features
  • Outline/ Agenda
  • Description: A clear, concise summary
  • Instructional Methods: Description of teaching techniques
  • Transfer of Knowledge: Must incorporate or include one of the following: post-course test (minimum 20 multiple choice/TF questions and answers), hands-on demonstrations and practicum, practice exercises, workshops, group activities, Interactive games
  • Learning Aids: any items participants MUST bring/have access to
  • eHandouts: DO NOT SEND HANDOUTS WITH YOUR PROPOSAL. MUST be submitted electronically in their original application (MS Word, PowerPoint, etc.) without page numbers, headers or footers
  • Facilitated Collaborative Learning: (optional) virtually via SharePoint/AIHA® online communities
  • Publications: (optional) Not automatically approved,
  • Instructors: Primary and Co-Instructors and complete contact information
  • Biographies: 1-2 paragraph biographies for each instructor must be included
