Optimize your IH career for success with this webinar sponsored by the AIHA Mentoring and Professional Development Committee.
Get tips on how to plan your IH career as we review how to develop a skills inventory of both technical and “soft” skills based on the recently updated AIHA Core Competencies publication. Soft skills (or power skills as they are sometimes called) are just as important to your career success as technical competencies.
We’ll discuss the importance of becoming certified, what resources are available, how a mentor can contribute to career planning, and how to use the AIHA IH Professional Pathway® program as a guide. Examine real-life applications of these tools within the IH field, from early-stage students to emeritus professionals in IH and those interested in allied professions where a background in IH is a good foundation.
Gain a deeper understanding of the necessary IH skills and tools you’ll need to map out a successful career.

Learning Objectives

Upon completion, participants will be able to:

  • Define what core competencies, both technical and “soft” skills, are required for a successful IH career.
  • Recognize the importance of a mentor to help guide your career.
  • Apply available tools to develop your personal road map to success including professional certification in industrial hygiene.
  • Discover ways you can continue to contribute to the profession as you enter the later stages of your career.
