Why make plans to attend the AIHA Fall Conference? Here are 8 reasons why today's IH/OH professional shouldn't miss out:

Learn about new ideas and techniques as the profession moves into the future. IH/OH opportunities and leadership responsibilities are expanding; looking ahead from a global perspective is key to understanding where we fit in the process.

Meet and network with your peers. Collaboration is the way to approach networking. Most people can help each other uncover ideas and spark inspiration when they get to know each other on a personal level. This isn't just a great morale booster--connecting with like-minded people inspires us and creates opportunities to build partnerships and joint ventures that will strengthen ourselves and the profession in the years to come.

Regain your focus. Sometimes we get caught up in the day-to-day regimen and need some help reacquiring the 'big picture.' This is a great way to remind us why we do what we do.

Renew your excitement. Being an IH/OH professional can be stressful and wear down our career excitement levels. A short conference filled with multiple educational opportunities like AIHA's Fall Conference can reignite our passion for our jobs.

Learn current strategies. Sometimes, we can find the solutions to problems through hearing how others have conquered similar issues. Those who are engaged over the long term are often asked to speak at the events, write articles for their industry publications, and often lead technical and education sessions at conferences. Like it or not, others like to associate with the experts in any industry. If your strategy is to be the best-kept secret in your business community, you will be missing a valuable opportunity.

Share the wealth. Bring all that great conference information back and share it with all the folks who didn't get to go, but could benefit from the good stuff. Attending various sessions and learning about the latest trends and how they’re being used in your industry augments your knowledge base and gives you something valuable to bring back, and possibly apply, to your own work.

Have fun. All work and no play can get old fast. AIHA conferences add a layer of enjoyment to managing your career growth by mixing a social aspect into your learning efforts. Taking an extra day at the beginning or end of the trip to explore or visit friends in the region is a great way to maximize the investment in travel.
